Rapidfire Q/A

What does the CEO of Positive Approach to Care do?

The CEO allows the COO to run the company day-to-day. The CEO is often out doing things she hopes will make a difference in people’s lives and their understanding of dementia in their comfort level.

These days, she’s doing a lot of TikTok, a fair amount of Facebook, and a lot of virtual training and enacting because we still have this Covid pandemic happening, you know.

What are your hobbies?

I like a lot of different things and have a background in lots of crafts. I knit, crochet, and sew.

I embroider, I do woodworking. We do household renovations. In my daughter’s house, we redid all the counters, refinished them, and installed them.

I love going outside. I hike. I love working in the yard. I do yard art.

I like to cook and bake.

Do you have any kids following in your footsteps?

My daughter is the CEO of the company. My other daughter does Spanish translations for us because she’s sort of bilingual. She also does some kid care for us. We do volunteer work at an adult day health center here in town, so she’s doing work there, too.

My son, interestingly enough, is doing video editing, and he does other stuff, too. And then my husband cashes the checks. So, it’s a family-run business. My son-in-law does the financials.

What do people understand about long-term care?

There are many opportunities to see residential care and long-term care differently because it’s not all the same. There is certainly not just one song out there.

There are so many melodies, and you want to know that when you’re looking around for a job or a place to live, or a residence for somebody you care about. You really want to explore what all the options are because there are so many different options, and they are incredibly varied.

What is Positive Approach to Care doing in the next six months? What are you focusing on?

We are focusing on TikTok episodes because they’re three minutes long. And then you can go and do something else or watch the next one, depending on what you want to do.

We are starting to get back out into the world as Covid gets controlled and we find safe spaces. We are also continuing our online presence because we know that there are people all over the place, and that’s the best way to catch up with them.

And we are starting to launch in six months.
